Quick question. We have a 20 plus year old Compass Omega. It doesn't have a built in aeriel for the TV. So my question is do you need a specific specialist caravan aerial or can I just use an indoor aerial from Argos?
An indoor aerial won't work very well in a caravan due to the metal construction it is surrounded by so the reception may be poor plus you really need a booster too. As there isn't a roof aerial as standard you may be best buying an external aerial with booster as a complet kit such as the 'Vision' shown in the link.
An indoor aerial from Argos may indeed work, you could always try it. My sis has one from Tesco in her van and never fails to get a signal. She sites it in her front windowsill.
I have an Avetex st1000, also works well and can be sited inside or outside according to where the signal is coming from. Mine is powered by my little tv, so I don't have to plug it in anywhere.
We have an old Compass Image and although we have recently discovered an aerial point outside I have always used a cheapy indoor Tesco one. Only failed to get a decent pic on one site and I didn't have a mobile phone signal there either!
Have you considered a sky dish and box? You can purchase a signal meter and bits and bobs quite cheaply and the result is excellent. I take my own sky box with card and getting it connected is easy with the flat cable that goes through the window to the equipment. Even with the basic Sky subscription you will get all the TV you need and more. If you need advice on what you will need to get going I can help. Chris
So just to update everyone. As the money was abit tight this week we decided to risk the cheaply from Argos. We've just come back from our first trip away and we managed to pick up most of the channels we like to watch. So thank you everyone that replied we will keep the other suggestions in mind for when we get some more money. However we loved our trip so might be spending it all on more trips!!
