It will be covered for damage you cause to a 3rd party, but damage to the van wont be covered on your policy unless you can claim from a 3rd party.
Does your brother not have insurance that he can add you to?
Insurance is generally yearly and can be quite costly for short term use. Also any claims or incidents may require you pay the full amount.
I'm not absolutely sure but I think insurance companies are reluctant to offer insurance for a period of less than six months. The only way to find out the correct answer is to ring your car insurance and and ask them.
Saga policy states caravan is covered for use by anybody else with policy holder's permission, so read his policy t&c's. You are probably already covered to use his caravan.

I think you will find that is the terms and conditions on the caravan insurance for a third party using the caravan such as family or friends but actually towing on the highway. The OP needs to contact their vehicle insurance for that.
