There should be more rules when it comes to what site wardens can do. I've always thought that their prices are high and the quality poor. More money making projects than looking after members.
What most people don't appreciate is that wardens finance the supply of gas out of their own pockets, the Club has nothing to do with it. They also often don't buy direct from Calor so what they pay for the cylinders is higher than say Go Outdoors and they often have to pay delivery charges which they have to pass on. The sale of gas on Club sites should be looked upon as an emergency service to help out members that run out of gas whilst on site which suggests they themselves have not exactly planned ahead! If people complain about it wardens will soon vote with their feet and that is in no one's interest.
David I take all that on board but I like most other people would never know this. I like many would think that everything on a club site was done by the club. I am guessing that items in the shop are done through the wardens too and its up to them what they sell and what they sell it for.
It's a shame that the quality of some of the stock is poor on some site. I have suggested to some site managers that sometimes the stock lets the club down.
I have just handed a full bottle back to caravan dealer close to where our caravan is pitched for the summer. I am now on a 300 plus waiting list for a replacement which I was told could take months. I have another bottle so it was no problem to me but having read the posts on this thread it may be worth ringing round as some outlets have more availability than others.
