Probably just needs a hoover out, you would be surprised how many webs those tiny money spiders weave when you're not looking, especially overwinter. I use the nozzle on my house hoover to get underneath as far as I can, then I take the vent off the outside and hoover down there as well. If you can actually pull the fridge out, you can do an even better job.
If the fridge now works OK on gas then forget about trying to vacuum out spiders......the gas jet is clear!
It looks to me from your original post that you may have a fuse or trip gone on the 230Vac mains supply. You say that the green light went out when you moved the thermostat. Could be that you have a broken 230Vac heating element that has taken out a fuse or trip so that you have no green light.
A burnt out heating element on its own will still show a green light but not work.
Check for fuse or miniature circuit breaker for the fridge next.
Oh. The other thoughts on the fridge/caravan not being level are also a red herring....the green light would still come on even if you weren't level ;)

Level of van would only affect running fridge on Gas.
If the van hasn't been used for a while it will take a long time to get gas up to fridge to ignite, I always light a cooker burner first to get the gas up thru the pipes.
On EHU fridge will run even if not very level.
Could be a fuse or broken wire/dry connection!
We're talking about the 230Vac supply to the fridge so the fuse may be a miniature circuit breaker, I have 2 in my wardrobe as it happens, within the same unit that houses the incoming mains supply. Do other parts of the 230Vac circuit work?
You may have a separate fused outlet for the fridge though, all caravans seem to be built differently. Have a look under the seats adjacent to the fridge, most likely place.
The fridge being level is not the issue here as stated earlier. However, the fridge must be level no matter how it is powered. The gases and liquids need to circulate properly in the fridge for it to operate efficiently. The only difference between gas or electric power is the how the gas/liquid components are heated, after that it's all the same system.
Everything else worked fine. We are going to have a look today and see if we can sort out the problem. I seem to remember a box under the seats opposite the fridge. Thank you for your help.
Still not got the fridge working and the fuse is fine. It now doesn`t work on gas as we appear to have a leak in the pipe feeding the fridge. We have made sure the gas to the fridge is turned off. We are going to get a mobile service company to have a look. Our gas heater doesn`t work either so we should be able to get both jobs sorted at the same time.
