Afternoon one and all.
Is it me, but having ordered a new Bailey Unicorn Vigo on 21/02/15, I looked forward to the future working as a warden, with my wife, on a beautiful site in Devon - if only Bailey would build the "£$$%^ thing!
I have had the poor dealer salesman begging again for forgiveness as the delivery has been delayed once again. Todays update is yet another weeks delay, after only being told 10 days ago it would be being built from today. This is the 5th delay from the original due date.
I know Bailey are obviously having issues with public relations after reading some other forums, but surely production planning means planning for production. You cant keep changing things without warning customers of potential problems, and I don't expect they will be giving me a little something in compensation for the increased blood pressure.
Being a bit snobby, but I'm spending £20k on a top line caravan, and feel the manufacturer sees other clients of having more priority over my current order.
My wife has banned me from contacting Bailey direct as I'm apparently not allowed to swear at them, but if they delay again then I'm homeless having sold up to travelling and wardening and we complete in 2 weeks time, on the now expected delivery date (ooh how easy is that going to be to fit in on a moving date!).
4 Months delivery for a standard van - is this standard, and why is my dealer not getting the support he deserves.
Comments please while I go and lie down...........
I feel your pain, gosh Bailey are getting a poor rep at the moment. We decided to ditch our house and buy a caravan to live in where my partner works as the rent here is ridiculous. The dealers have been messing us around with when our van will be serviced/ready to collect and then some moron went to pull the caravan next to ours off of the forecourt and scraped all down our caravan with the one he was towing. We've had to retract our notice twice, luckily our landlord is amazing (apart from the rent he charges) and doesn't have a problem with us staying as long as we need to. I too was barred from contacting the dealer as my fella thought they were gonna get fed up and refuse to deal with us. Hope you get it sorted. Wine helps
------------- If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you!
I would cancel and find a van that is in stock somewhere else that a dealer has in stock. You would get your deposit back as the dealer is unable to supply to your specific date. There is one here
But the dealer is a bit suspect
There is one at Micheal Jordan Caravans near Guildford.
We have dealt with them. Good service.
We bought a 2014 Swift demonstrator caravan because we didn't want to wait for delivery for a new one. We bought it in February and have had seven weeks away in it already.I would look for a demonstrator somewhere and save money too.
We bought a new Coachman from Kimberley last September and it was delivered to us the first weekend of November. The dealer had from Coachman a week or so before and the whole process went as we'd hoped. Couldn't fault Coachman or the dealer. Absolutely first class. We were given our delivery date after a few weeks and they stuck to it.
I think it depends on the dealer. Some seem to get the vans quicker than others. We waited 5 months for our Unicorn 3 but while we were waiting I heard from other people who had ordered the same model after us and had received it before through another dealer.
We have just been at 2 dealers who have both told us that Bailey caravans are lengthy delivery. 1st dealer said they now taking orders for 2016 models whilst 2nd dealer says he can get us the model we want for November. If we willing to take 2015 model then he will try and get one for us for August. Our 14 month old Bailey Unicorn Seville was written off last Sunday by an idiot on the M40 who drove into us. Despite looking at other makes & models we want Bailey Unicorn so have no choice but to wait as we want new one and not ex demonstator.
Thanks everyone for your inputs, the beastie has finally hatched and we will be collecting tomorrow from our dealer.
Its been a bit of a hassle, but the dealer has responded properly and promptly to my queries - even though I thought they were being shafted by Bailey itself.
Heres just hoping its as lovely as I want it to be as I will be living and travelling in it till next March!
Happy towing people - and remember site staff are human too!
------------- Why me, its not my turn this time......

We got all the models in all the colours, ready to drive away, is a common TV advert in the U.S.
Wait 5 months for a new caravan? I don't think so.
Do you really want a "new" car that has been sat on a forecourt in blazing sunshine for months on end. I certainly wouldn't.
Sorry? Have you any idea where your new imported car has been since it was made half a year ago?
What makes you think the whole of the U.S. is in blazing sunshine and if is sunny where you are they have covered selling areas.
