Hi all its with utter disgust im writing on here.
We are due to go away this Saturday but when I went to my dads place where caravan is kept I noticed the battery box was forced open which I thought was strange, when I went to open door the key wouldn't go in I realised then it had been forced with a screwdriver and gained access which is why they wrenched battery out to disconnect any possible alarm.
They have ransacked the van going through every cupboard.
They have stolen the following
1/Isabella awning with annexe groundsheet and carbon x poles
2/Isabella porch awning and poles
3/TV
4/Solar panel
5/Battery jump pack
6/Trolley jack
7/bbq
8/Both gas bottles calor lite
I have phoned police and reported it I am insured with caravan club but on phoning them Saturday afternoon found they are only open weekdays.
my policy says it covers caravan and equipment but not contents so im not sure what falls in what class
also because we go to cornwall on Saturday with a caravan full of people the awning is desperate my question is can I purchase a replacement awning only to get my money back at alater date.
any advice appreciated
regards bryan
my problem is we need an awning to go away with
I had a conversation with customer services the other day as was over insured for contents as they don't cover any personal effects such as ipads etc, but stuff like the awnings, gas bottles are covered under associated equipment and I'm sure your TV is covered under contents. Let's hope the other items are included. Good luck.

Sorry to hear that your van has been broken into at the worst possible time...thieving gits !!!
I think as above post your awning should be covered, I don't know about 2 awnings ?? On our insurance it just says awning up to a certain value. We have 2 awnings but always keep one in the garage.
Hope you get it all sorted and can still enjoy your holiday.
Sorry to hear about your caravan. Really disgusts me when people have worked hard for things and some thieving scum help themselves! Hope you get sorted!
------------- Enjoy life while you can, none of us know what's round the corner!
Hoe you get your insurance etc sorted.....BUT....Why oh why leave a TV in your van?
That is the very reason these scrotes attack caravans, they know the locks are rubbish and they are very likely to find some electric items 'hidden' inside.
You will probably find them at your nearest car-boot sale.
Did plod turn u and print the van, or did they just issue a crime number for your insurance claim?
------------- Snowmen fall to earth in kit form........
Every day is a gift..That's why it's called the present.
If the TV is a 12v model then you shoukld have no issue getting it replaced. We have claimed from CC previously and the claim went through smoothly with no hiccups and prompt payment for repairs.
As for the gas bottles even if they did not remove the battery, it is easy to remove them out of the front locker as generally the locker door is not alarmed. Actually they can remove anything in the front locker without the alarm sounding.
BTW I am fairly certain that not so long ago a caravan was reported stolen from near bridgenorth so you may have a gang operating in the area. BTW we reported our incident on a Saturday afternoon and spoke direct with the insurance claims hot line.
What a pain. Lets hope you get a reply from your insures asap. Even if you dont get the cash to replace items before you go away if you know you will be reimbursed at least you can get replacement before you go. Cant believe the cheek of the theives. Noticed you said van was at your Dads residence they were lucky they werent seen or heard.

The caravan is kept at my dad's business where he also lives they have dogs we just always took it for granted it was safe they must have come from the farm fields behind on foot
Police just gave crime number as there was no tools left or visible blood to test

Your correct a caravan was stolen about 10 miles away in bridgnorth and was found stripped down south
As for insurance they just don't seem to care justkept saying just fill claim form no customer care but I'm not bothered so long as we get sorted

The dogs made no noises they must have come from fields behind they couldn't have stolen van without ramming it through trees one end and cars at other so I guess they decided to steal everything instead
The joys of living in the country I suppose
sounds like people of a certain ethnic origin and i think they are more interesting in stripping for parts than complete vans.. they target less congested areas and are probably quite organized.. they prize certain things which are of use to them..
