I am a have been having problems with the build up of ash and carbon on the bottom of pots and pans, when I have been cooking on a open fire or on ashes.
Has anyone got any idea of how to solve this or does anyone know of any products that can fix this.
Is this a joke? Open or solid fuel fires have no control over the combustion, the air/fuel ratio. Incomplete combustion, where there is insufficient air or temperature causes "carbon cracking" the carbon released, the orange in the flame, is the soot you get on your pans. It's also the carbon monoxide that will kill you if you are not in a well ventilated area. Solid fuel fires account for more deaths than gas fires by the way. My simple solution is to use a Coleman stove or a camping gaz stove where the combustion is better controlled. Leave the open fire for warmth and ambience.
As said before - a gas cooker like a Scafell Rock is much cleaner to cook on - but if you insist on cooking on an open fire take some Brillo pads with you.
If you burn the inside of a pan and can't clean the black off - dry the pan and pour in neat thick bleach - leave it for an hour or two and then wash.
washing up liquid and coat up the sides as well (only wash the inside day-day) then scrub well when finished camping with a brillo
