If its law that caravans must display the same Reg plate as the tow car how come the travelling community never have reg plates on there vans at all. Had loads of twin axle vans on our site this weekend belonging to the travel community and none had number plates.
Believe me that the travelers now just dont screw with plod over motor vehicles and documents etc...
The reason?
Plod simply have the powers now to impound any car that has no insurance, the driver has no licence or any other suspected offence.
As the travelers need transport they do follow the law and plod do check lots of caravans and other kit to reveal any 'stolen' or suspected stolen gear.
------------- Snowmen fall to earth in kit form........
Every day is a gift..That's why it's called the present.
i dont think there is a plod as such any more.. its all done automatically and the registered keeper gets nicked..
the keeper is traced by the number plate now a car dosnt need a tax disk the auto check mechanism may show the car isnt taxed or insured but with no registered keeper there is nobody to get nicked..
i am guessing there may be many unregistered cars on UK roads today with east European or false plates.. and maybe caravans without any plates at all..
Travellers on official gypsy sites do have the necessary documents as they are claiming benefits so they got to have official addresses to do so.The travellers that travels in packs and park anywhere they want, is mr nobody ,they got nowt no insurance what so ever or any other documents. They park anywhere illegal and they know full well the police cant confiscate there cars, as they be stuck then to move about from county to county, the police want to get them off there patch as soon as possible and to do so they need cars.Police can manage one caravan no problem but how the heck can they manage a pack of twenty and maybe 50 scums that live in them IMPOSIBLE

I'm on a site in the lakes and there are about 6 twin axle vans around me all with no number plates. They are Fendt's and exquisite VIP vans all towed by new BMW's. There are another 8 further up the site also with no plates. I just wondered why they didn't display the reg plate when its law and I'd be pulled straight over if I did it.

It's because the police only deal with easy targets.
It looks better on their stats.
Ask your local Police commissioner for a comment.
NOT so there are no answer to this problem, if these travellers illegal park there caravans on a field near your house and the police decided to tow there cars away,do you realise that you got to live with maybe 30 caravans and maybe 70 scums for rest of your lives.Oh you say tow them away but to where. These so called travellers know full well that they are safe in a big group the law will not touch them as the law cant come up with a solution. You cant push them to the sea the do gooders wont allow that. And this clan is a mixture of irish, english, welsh and scots and believe me they are very hard scums

certain groups are above the law tis always been this way and the more automatic and fixed penalty the law becomes the greater the advantage of being "unregistered" and therefore untraceable and unaccountable becomes..
not bothering to put plates on caravans just shows how above the law some people are..
