Not sure is my answer, most new vans seem to go with water-filled central heating and no gas fire. It may be possible to retrofit just the gas fire without the blow-air bit. You may get more answers if you were to re-post on the main Caravans & Caravanning section.

thanks for the replies. i was quite horrified when i realised no fires in new caravans. i go to cl sites and rallys were you do not have electric. caravan battery will not last long running fans for the central heating.
Some of the freedom caravans have gas fire and water heater only but they're only 10 foot long.
Out 2011 bailey had a gas fire with blown air on the back. It would run with or without the blown air on gas or electric and actually warmed the van a lot quicker with the fan off. It was more comfortable with it on though as the heat was more evenly distributed.
I think you're right about the fan using a lot of battery power.
