WE ARE MOVING INTO OUR CARAVAN IN APRIL 2016, WHILST RENTING OUT OUR HOUSE IN THIS COUNTRY. TRYING TO GET AHEAD OF THE GAME, SO ANY ADVICE ABOUT POTENTIAL PITFALLS WITH LIVING PERMANENTLY IN A TOURER WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

You don't say how long you intend to live in the van for the un- see- able future or seasonable or all year round.

You will have to pay site fees buy gas pay for your washing( dearer than home) you will need a decent site with good facilities and if you live 365 days a year.
That is if you don't turn traveling folk and join a tribe.
I presume you intend to carry on working while doing this so you cant go far from work and by doing this you could get involved in paying two lots of council tax.
one for your house one for your van unless you move between two sites halve yearly.
what happens if you get made redundant you cant claim the dole as you don't have a permanent address as its rented out ( you have made your self homeless) Why don't you get some legal advice before you take the big step.
Most Citizen's Advice offices have contact with a solicitor who gives free advice one day a week.

Biggest pitfall is trying to get insuracen for a caravan if you are living permanently in it. The other issue is a permanent address for car registration and drvier's licence. When insuring the car you will need to notify them that the car is kept at a different address.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. We have a 6 month seasonal pitch locally, which we can live on continually, and then book for a further 2 months at their lower out of season rate. Also we have family living locally for a postal address, etc. We then intend to rent an apartment in Spain for the winter months.
