Following the Carry on Caravanning program on TV last night, it got me thinking about Airstreams.
They seem horrendously expensive but appear to be well designed and constructed. They look to be a you get what your pay for item and also a statement / lifestyle item.
I have never seen one up close.
Do they ever suffer with leaks and damp?
Do they use the wooden frame method of construction or do they have an aluminium frame?
Could caravans be built with aluminium frames instead of wooden frames, I guess they could but the cost would be considerably higher.
I actually called at the Airstream showroom last year whilst on my way back from Gateshead & i have to say they are truley stunning close up, the sales manager gave me a guided tour of both a twin axle and a single axle and they are just as good on the inside as they are on the outside, yes they are astonomically expensive but they really do hold their value, so if you can afford one you they are a good investment.
i forgot to mention when i pulled up on their car park they were actually shut and some staff were leaving, i made it quite clear that i couldnt afford one and was just looking incase i won the lottery as i really admired them, He still gave me the tour knowing full well he wasnt getting a sale.
