Hi we are looking for a new caravan with fixed bunk beds and a dinette which can also convert into bunks.
We have looked at a few and have a shortlist but struggling to decide so any input would be greatly appreciated. Our options are:
Elddis Avante 566
Sprite Major 6 TD
Bailey Pegasus
We like the idea of a kids room that you get in the Elddis and Sprite but the Bailey seems better quality and more spacious however I understand that they have discontinued it for 2016.
our car can tow any of them but won't stretch to anything heavier.
It's the GT65 so it has the fixed bunk bed then a dinette opposite the kitchen rather than at the back next to the bunks. So it doesn't have the feel of the kids having their own room but makes the rest of the caravan seem more spacious. Our kids are 5 and 2 but we want our next caravan to last us until they are bored of caravanning.
The Ancona is popular. Be careful when looking to avoid the triple bunk version on the earlier models. Our kids hated these as there is no headroom to sit in bed.
If you are buying new they have launched a twin axle bunk model if you can tow the extra weight.
Thanks for your replies. We've done it! We've ordered a dealers special based on the sprite major 6td. We're really excited as it seems to have everything we need, just a little nervous as seen so many bad reports on here about new caravans. Hope we aren't one of the unlucky ones!
We were going to save up for another year but our current van has damp issues and we have been given a good deal on it so hopefully everything will work out perfectly for us.
Who'd have thought 3yrs ago when we purchased our 1st van for £500 that we would have loved it so much (despite something falling off every time we used it, a hole in the front of it and an awning 2ft to short lol) that we'd fall in love with caravanning so much?
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
