We bought a new Elddis caravan last year and it had one of those Avtex aerials. They are rubbish. I have struggled to get a decent picture - so I decided to buy a portable aerial.
We went to Maplin electronics and decided on a Moonraker DTV-1000. It cost £45 but it is a cracker.
I couldn't believe it when I tuned in the TV - we got 294 channels - never had that many before - A lot we could not watch as they were pay channels but I am a happy bunny now.
They are only small and have a sucker to stick to the side of the caravan - If anyone is thinking of buying an aerial - don't bother with the ones on the long poles - Get one of these
Ive got an Xplore 304 that has one of those Avtex aerials, to be honest I've had no problems with it on most sites, and the odd site I have had problems, nobody else could get TV unless they had a dish.
I think that Elddis have had a lot of complaints about it though because in the latest Caravan Club magazine they have an article about Elddis's 2016 range and that they are using a different aerial manufacturer. The quote from someone at Elddis says they chose the new aerial because "its gives the best picture quality".
I instantly thought about the amount of people on here and other forums complaining about the Avtex aerial, and surely Elddis must have known there was better aerials on the market, but probably went with the Avtex one because it was cheap.
On our previous van, an Elddis 540 (2013) we never had any problem with the Ariel, since moving back to a van with a Status Ariel we find we now lose signal quite regular on some of the sites we have re-visited in the past year.
