Yes there are 2 small circular pads on the winterhoff hitch. Just tap them out with hammer and screwdriver or the like clean inside the hitch with petrol or turps and push the new pads in by hand. Think the 2 genuine pads were about £30.
They are simple stowfords guys took about 15 mins to get them out and 2 to put new ones in when I was pitched up on thier site ( took so long to get out as one broke up)
As said above front one has a hole in rubber cover ( might have a bung in it ) stick screwdriver through and tap , back one just access hole

Thanks for the info, I found the van started swaying a bit so wondered if the pads needed replacing? could I do it myself, or wait till it goes in for its service next year.
I did the pads on my winterhoff a couple of weeks ago for exactly the same reason. Providing you aeven semi confident at DIY you will be fine. The wear indicator mentioned above is only good if the pads are physically worn down, if they have plenty of depth but have been smoothed off by a painted towball etc (as mine were) the wear indicator won't report a problem. You can't beat getting down on your hands and knees and having a bit of a look and feel. The pads should feel slightly abrasive to touch, if they are smooth, then they are best replaced.
I now carry a tin of brake cleaner, which was about £6 from halfords and spray clean my towball before each hitch up. Van is more stable than ever since I did the work.
