any advice please.
we have normally been able to store our caravan indoors however this year we cant get a space anywhere.
the only one is outdoor so we are looking at a cover for the caravan does anyone know how good they are and which ones and what too look for many thanks
carol
To be honest I wouldn't bother, unless it's going to be stored under some trees. Caravans are designed to be kept outdoors and some covers can do more damage than good.
Also some storage sites do not allow covers. Ours doesn't.
I bought a new cover for our new Bailey last spring. At £160 it has straps underneath and at the front and back so it does not flap about.
This spring, off came the cover and away we went with a nice clean caravan, barely a year old. A couple of days into the holiday and it rained, the rain pouring in (literally) through the roof over the bed.
Had we not had a cover, most of the inside of the caravan would have soaked, and we would also have had mildew. The cover had clearly been waterproof.
There are lots of threads on this topic already. Some do/some don't/some did, now don't. If you do a search you will be able to find the threads and can make your own mind up on what to do.

Yes - correction. If you have a new Bailey, I would probably put a cover on it. If your van doesn't leak like a sieve I wouldn't bother.
Bailey ought to give them away free with a new van.
I was told by the chap who came to service the van that there was damp at the back and to prevent it getting worse to cover it and I did 12mth ago and the damp has almost gone, but I leave 3 windows on the lock to let air circulate through, so in my case its been a good thing to do
if you own a bailey i would store undercover.I would not ever have a cover on my van, especially protec.they do lots of damage wether clean or not.As mentioned before, caravans should be weather proof and meant to be outside. If you get a cover i think you may regret it.
------------- i dont sell cheap tat.I sell tat cheap
We have had no ill effects from our protec. If they damage vans then they would all be damaged and not just a handful.
Some people store cars in garages to protect them from the elements. Look at older vans that have been left out in all weathers and they show their age.
well if your asking, here is my experiance.
Tiger stripes, they are not stains or anything like it,they are polish marks where the cover has polished the van.
this is caused by the cover moving in the wind and polishing the van where it touches.
in windy conditions causing the cover to sort of ripple as the wind blows and it polishes the van where it touches.
It makes no difference who makes the cover its the above action that makes the marks.
If your van is stored in a sheltered position you wont get the marks, this is why some people get the marks and others dont.
Also if your van has newish unfaded paintwork you are less likley to get them as your paintwork is already highley polished.
If your painwork has dulled a bit the marks will show due to this polishing affect
so the duller your paintwork the more you will see the tiger stripes.
buy a new caravan and cover it, no stripes.
Buy a new cover for an older caravan, tiger stripes
Stored in windy conditions, tiger stripes, see where im coming from??
As you can see from the pictures the stripes are nice and shiney the rest of the van is dull.
The cover used was £400 and made to measure, all makes will do this if the cover moves in the wind not just the one make, before buying i had samples of the material used buy the top makers and they are almost identical
here are just a few pictures.
keep looking for indoor storage, and try to get your name on any waiting lists
