Is it a requirement of your insurance that a tracker is fitted?

It will help your insurer recover their losses at your expense, you have paid your premium, why should you pay any more? Have you seen the state of a caravan recovered after a theft? I doubt you would want it back. Most of the time once a caravan has been stolen then it's just the payout that you will want. Stolen caravans are generally found later on & even if located, for various reasons recovery cannot take place immediately if at all.

Usually police cannot do a 'hot pursuit' of a stolen caravan, they have more important priorities. Once a caravan has been stolen then it's just an insurance job, the idea that a tracker will allow caravan to be rapidly recovered & delivered back to owner undamaged is a pretty unlikely scenario.

I wouldn't want mine back if it were stolen, I'll keep the price of the tracker in my pocket for my holidays.

Worth checking if having one will reduce your insurance premium, sometimes it does.

Opensause says the police have more important things to do than chace up stolen caravans, most caravans are worth between £2000 and £23000,if I stole £2000 or more from a house or anywherae else I sure the police would find that important, what's the difference, why isn't it important

Tracker Retrieve is for caravans as it has its own 5 year lasting battery.

Certainly police will prioritise crimes against the person above theft so if they only have the manpower available to attend a report of, say domestic violence then that will take priority over a report of an ongoing caravan theft.

Main point being made is that police will not necessarily go in hot pursuit of a stolen vehicle if they get a report of an activated tracker particularly as with tracker the vehicle could be located later.

The best tracker is the Phantom Tracker as they let you know if any one enters the caravan. The moment the caravan is moved a yard, they are alerted and contact you in case it is accidental. If not you, they notify the police so more than likely your caravan is recovered before it goes missing.
The Tracker Retrieve fitted as standard of Swift caravans is a waste of time and money. You have to notify The tracking company if the caravan is missing and if the caravan is in storage thsi may be weeks before you realkise it is missing!
