Opensauce to call out a locksmith to open lock will cost you £50.
My lock is up when locked and lever is held up by spring loaded ball bearing to stop banging on door to vibrate down.
But then you still have to turn center piece to unlock at same time from inside, only the key overides this.
If you have a stable door type you might be able to use a flexable pallet knife to push off lever between top and bottom halves of door. some the lever turns to the hinges others to the open edge. My last van was towards the hinges.
I stopped from opening by drilling and fitting a split pin after finding how easy it was to get in this way.
I now have a spare key hidden in a magnetic box on the van also secured with gaffer tape,plus both car keys and wifes house keys have spare van key just incase.
Yes, I keep a key hidden on chassis on my caravan which is same as op's. While it would be easy enough to force entry it would actually very difficult to gain keyless entry without damage. With old caravan, plastic parts have become brittle & probably attempts to to push object inside to flip catches would end up breaking things.
A locksmith could gain entry in seconds as those old locks are very easy to pick. Instructions how to pick can be found via google & lock picks on ebay cost a few quid.
If it's anything like cars were in the old days, they only had a limited number of different keys, so your key would open other cars of the same make. Or sometimes other makes. I accidently locked my baby son in our Morris Marina. The police came with a box of assorted keys, and found one that fitted. And OH once got into a car the same make and colour of ours, then realised it wasn't.
Right ,waited till dark and snuck out to break into my caravan ,first i tried every key in the house ,no luck ,i,d only opened the door once before so hadn,t had time to inspect the key but i have to say that the ones with mc on them nearly worked.
My first window to break into was facing my neighbours who had passed away and was more private.I tried the tape but couldn,t get it round the curve at the bottom of the window.i next tried a wallpaper scraper and managed to flip open the bottom toggle but didn,t know that there was one either side and they were in line with the stays ,i think they are called ,the arms and they stopped me from getting to them .The front window is sealed i think,,so it was round the other side.i flipped up the middle toggle and to my utter delight the other ones weren,t in place but i was in full view of the street.Explained to passers by that i was breaking into my own caravan but soon had an audience.
Got a plastic chair and at 17 stone and big bosoms ,i went over head first into the van,getting my shoe stuck on the arm.Someone pushed me in and my neighbours clapped accordingly.I opened the door and thanked them but don,t know what to do now.l have a hasp and padlock but don,t want to put it on my lovely van .i want little owls stuck outside and bunting inside,it would look rough with a padlock but is not secure.I checked the door handle but theres no make on it to order a barrel,anybody got any ideas???? Samurai do you mind if i message you? If so how do i do it ? The bloke who sold it to me said it needed a back window. Its got a bigger one on and i bought one on ebay which i think is the correct size.I was under the impression that you slide the old window out and the new one in.The new window hasn,t got stays or toggles and cos its just the small back window i bought mastic tape and sikaflex to seal it shut ut i remember now the bloke said he screwed it down .Can,t see any screws ,they must b hidden.Apparently they are on the underside but where? Deffo not inside the van . Wish i had caravanning neighbours lolIf you can screw down a window would i be better doing that or mastic and sickaflex guys ?its right near the road so i don,t want it to open in case anyody like me breaks in lol

Thqnk you so much,i,ve changed a housebarrel back in 1992 so i would hope i can do it,will b mortified if i find the key now lol.i,m sat amogst a livingroom full of stuff to go in it but it needs to be secure.i could go on that program ,hoarders buried alive lol
Never thought about that clever lol.it was pitch black and i had a torch and a wallpaper scraper.i must have looked really bad.felt guilty as hell thats why i. explained to all passers by that it was my own caravan. and they stayed to watch the fun.i,m too old for this lol
