Has anyone with a Freedom sunseeker caravan got a motor mover fitted.
The reason I ask is because we are both getting on a bit and the driveway beside our house that we have to use is deep gravel and there is nothing we can do about it, it is impossible to get the car atatched to the van by driving and believe me I can drive!
Just toying with the idea for the moment and would do the job myself if I decide to have one.
Yes, I know someone with a Freedom and a MM. I have a small kip caravan, and I also had a MM fitted. It is so much easier than manhandling the caravan. I also fitted a wider solid jockey wheel (after finding that the blow up tyres were not brilliant) and that also made a huge difference.
The only thing you will need to do is watch your laden weight. The Freedoms don't have a lot of spare in the first place, and this will eat into your small max weight. You can buy lightweight ones these days though, but not sure of the cost.
If you give me a day or so, I'll try to find out for you. He is a member of another forum... which I can't mention on here or the post will get deleted.
I bought mine from this company and they were extremely professional. I paid to have mine fitted as well, and they know about small caravans as well as the larger ones! :) And it looks like they are offering free fitting on selected models throughout October! :)
Although it cost nearly as much as my caravan, I have never regretted the purchase, and a lot of other people I know will say the same!
However, there are lots of different makes to choose from, they all fit! My caravan is as small and light as a Freedom, and the purpleline mover I have is brilliant. :)
You're welcome, MD! My Kip caravan is only 650kg fully laden, but it's impossible for me to push onto my drive as I have back problems. It was getting so awful I started to dread coming home. A grass bank opposite means that I didn't have enough room to manoever enough to reverse in. On top of that, loose shale drive and a bit of an incline.
Yes, they are expensive, but like so many others have said, well worth the money. I've never regretted the purchase, and I've never had a problem with mine (touching wood) and with a five year guarantee you really can't go wrong with that firm I mentioned in the link above.
Get a lightweight one if you can though, as there isn't a great deal of spare weight around with a Freedom. Although the chap I contacted said he is still within the limit and doesn't get over the max weight for the caravan, he is travelling alone, so there is less other stuff to weigh him down.
