I we were in similar situation.
We have recently sold our twin axle fixed bed to downsize, but struggled to find large enough lounge and a comfy bed for us.
we have just bought a Bailey provence 5 berth with L shape front.
It enables us to leave a fixed bed up at rear if wanted. The large L shape allows my teen son to sleep across the width of front of van with ease, turning into second double if needed.
we contemplated 4 berths with side dinettes but side beds are not very long.
we are very happy with our van as it is flexible for our requirements. We have also gained a separate shower, so no more mopping out before using toilet!
usually a compromise somewhere when a change of layout is needed!
regards

Thanks Milly glad you have found your solution! I quite like the L shape lounges but with two kids that just wouldn't work for us unless one slept in awning when older maybe.

As you say its the compromise that you are happiest with is the key for any van

Works for me 2010 elddis odyssey 540   ( 3 kids 11,13,17 )

When away for more than weekend 17 yr ( who's 6:4) old in awning ,
smaller ones on front beds big enough , if only going for weekend to use front bed for all 3 ( centre console removes )

Fixed bed for us ,

What was really important was there is a full bathroom across back which really works well as dressing space.

But it does limit the internals kitchen prep space small

smaller ones on front beds along the sides without pulling bed fully out   big enough and long enough and the 13 y/o is 5:7

if only going for weekend to use front bed for all 3 ( centre console removes ) and all 3 are fine
