Good Evening, can anyone give me a rough idea how much it will cost me to get my touring caravan serviced for the up coming touring season.
It was last serviced by the previous owner,s in 2014.
Could anyone tell me what is involved and what they check and look for.
Thank you very much for any help you can give me.
A single axle caravan service will be less than that of a twin axle but mobile servicing should cost a lot less than if you take your caravan to a specific location as there are less overheads involved. I took my touring caravan to a local industrial unit three years ago which cost £250 but this year I am having a mobile service engineer conduct the service at my caravan storage for £100 so the prices can differ dramatically. I have had several mobile service engineer quotes which can vary between £100 to £150 so you need to shop around.
Also worth talking to some local caravan owners to see whether you can get a group of you together and get them all done together. That will often get you a cheaper price.
We also had our Twin Axle Caravan Service at our Seasonal site by a mobile service engineer fitter and he was very reasonable (Since new it been service every year)
We will be having him again this year when the winter cover comes off (Early March 2016) .....
Picked ours up from service last weekend at a dealer - £220 for a single axle van (although they do a £50 discount for servicing done in January, so only paid £170) - in terms of what should be done, have a look at the manual, it may tell you a detailed breakdown (my Sprite manual does), but basically, it's tyres, brakes, suspension, lights, gas, electrics and the all important damp check!
You also have to check what is included in the price quoted, if you require a damp check and report that is usually about £25 extra, but is often a requirement of your water ingress warantee. Likewise, if you require a motormover to be serviced there is normally an additional charge for that.
We paid around £160 for our last service, including damp check and mover, but it would have been more if we hadnt have used our dealer's £50 loyalty voucher.

A full service will take around 4 hours to complete on a single axle.
prices vary depending on area. Dealerships tend to be more expensive, though my business is my business so i care about how my customers are treated more than some big dealerships.

Hi Battie
Where are you based in SHROPSHIRE (Our caravan is on a Seasonal Site near Shrewsbury) we always use a mobile service engineer for our Twin Axle)
Regards Phil
I am getting my Baily Swift 650 twin axle serviced at the dealer, I got this one brand new last year and part exed my 3 year old van for it, they found a small damp spot, then asked were I had it serviced, I said it was a mobile fitter that came to the site, he then said, if he is not certified your warranty will be void,I know a site fitter is cheaper than the dealer, plus you have to take the van to them, so a site fitter sounds the best option, but how can I tell the site fitter is genuine.
if the engineer is a member of the approved mobile workshop then you can have a caravan serviced with them and it does not affect your warranty. I use a mobile company called caratech and he charges £165.00 takes around 4 hours and is very thorough.
I've just had a service carried out by the dealer I bought the caravan from new, two years ago. It's a single axle Bailey and it cost me £240.00, which I thought was expensive. If I used a mobile engineer, I could save £60.00 or more, but if something serious needs doing, like a water ingress problem, they can't do it because they don't have workshop facilities.
I suppose I'll have to bite the bullet and use the dealer because I'm expecting this one to leak at some stage, as the last one did before the warranty expired - better still, I'll ditch it and get a tent!
