my caravan is due its first service soon do i have to take it to the dealer where i bought from or can i have it serviced at any ncc approved dealer just wondering because of the validity of the warranty
You can have it serviced by any approved dealer, mobile is best if you have your van at home, if in storage, find your local approved dealer. There will be a list online.
The selling dealer will service your 'van and, hopefully attend to any warranty work (though they may not prioritise warranty work and you might have to wait)
Another accredited (by the manufacturer) dealer may or may not service your van and may or may not do warranty work. They may service your van but then refuse to do warranty work.
An independent NCC approved dealer will service your van but may not be able to do warranty work depending on what it is. They may also not choose to go through the kerfuffle of getting a manufacturer agree for them to do warranty work.
As I understand it warranty work is poorly paid by the manufacturers, and getting paid is a further issue, which is why dealers and garages try to avoid it.
The dealer who supplied my caravan, Grantham Caravans, was excellent, as is my servicing dealer Teesside Caravans. But I was told by Kimberley Caravans that if I didn't buy from them that I could take a hike if I ever asked for servicing or warranty work. Guess whose door I will never cross again.

If it's a manufacturers warranty you need to look at the terms and conditions very carefully and make sure the servicing dealer or engineer meets their stipulations.
Also need to make sure all services have been carried out on time. Bailey even insist on a VAT receipt to prove it's been done.
If there's the slightest thing wrong they can wriggle out of a claim.
From personal experience you may find the dealer doesn't want your warranty work if you don't have them service it, particularly if it's a water ingress claim. Water ingress is probably the most expensive warranty claim you can make.
Any ncc approved workshop can do it.
There is no grey area its as simple as that. No vat involvement at all.
Trust me i have had this convo with the aws manager this week after a dealer claimed i needed to be vat registered to carry out a warranty service.

I have used a mobile fitter to do all the servicing etc on my previous two Adria vans,he tells me he cant do any servicing or warranty work on my new one for the first three years as he isn't Adria approved, but he can add accessories such as arials, plug sockets etc, luckily Venture caravans are doing three years free servicing because I'm a member of the CC
That's some deal, just for being a member of the CC.
