How tall are you? UK built caravans with twin single bed layouts tend to have beds rather on the small side. Have checked tow weight for your car?
Adria have twin single models so check Adria UK website, maybe a bit heavy though. I'd also google 'Sterckeman' & 'Caravelair', these French built caravans have twin single bed models of weight you car can probably tow but not sure if they have UK distributors atm though.
If you haven't already seen them, have a look at these New to Caravans articles from the Camping and Caravanning Club for some basic advice.
Usual recommendation on this forum is to find a reputable dealer local to you (whether buying there or at the show) to avoid having to tow any distance to deal with any warranty issues.
The show's website (linked from here) has links to an Exhibitors List and Floorplan which should help with planning your visit. (Paper versions of both will be available free on arrival, but if you already have an idea of what you
want to look at, so much the better!)
Don't forget the C&CC/Hyundai Towing Experience opportunity (advance booking needed).
The first thing is to see how much a Scenic will tow, some of them have very low towing limits which will exclude many modern vans. Also check your driving licence, if you have a post 1997 licence you'll be restricted to a gross train weight of 3500 which may limit your choice of outfit.
Have a read of the articles Hacksaw Bob has mentioned and you'll have a much better idea of the situation.
When you know what you want you can play dealers against each other. However I have found that although dealers will tell you otherwise it is almost impossible to get warranty work done by anyone other than the dealer you buy it from.So do the dealing and try and end up with a local to you dealer.
have a look look at these, tehe 550/4 is twin singles. This is a dealer special and we have just picked up the 2 berth 400-2 today. The extras are worth a lot of money.
You're best of getting a brand new 2015 model from a local dealer. Will be cheaper, no waiting time (months) for delivery and no £400 delivery charge.
Don't seem to get a good deal at the nec anymore. Plus you really need to buy from someone quite local to you because if something goes wrong it has to go back to the selling dealer for repairs.
I agree with Navver as we've just ordered a 550/4 from CSC. The beds are nice and long and they are a bit higher than most beds which is handy for us as back problems mean we can't get down in to low seats and beds. The different upholstery on the special edition was much more to our taste than the original Bailey spec. The only drawback for you is that I expect your car won't tow it but if you can give us the details of your towing weights or the car details we can work it out for you.
Good luck but make sure your tow car is up to the job if you are looking at a four berth with single beds at the back I'm not sure your car is the one to tug it checkout what your car can tow if its petrol 1.6 I would say no
I agree with buying from a dealer near you. We bought a Lunar at the Cottingham show, and the dealer is a good 2 hour tow away. However, we have arranged for our local dealer to do the snagging, adjust cabinet door, fix spotlight, adjust gas struts on bed. Local dealer is not a Lunar outlet but is workshop approved, and Lunar agreed for them to do the work under warranty.
Previous van was a 6yr old Bailey that served us very well, enjoy your 'van as often as you can.
Alutech certainly doesn't mean it will not suffer with damp. Mostly the damp doesn't show in the walls but the damp goes undetected around the floor where the water runs down the inside. Also leaks into the front locker via the grab handles. My neighbors have a new Alutech Olympus and have already had a damp repair in the bathroom.
I used to have a 1.6 scenic and it's max tow weight was about 1100kg I only towed an empty car transporter with it, it struggled and used a lot of fuel. This was a 2003 model thoug. I have seen newer scenics towing caravans though so it must be possible.
Our Scenic is 2010.
I really don't like these damp stories. It is really putting me off! Does anyone know why it is such an issue. You don't get damp cars!
