Hi
When I attach the water pump to the inlet port the water
pours back down the side of the caravan. I don't think any water is getting through at all. Any ideas welcome,
many thanks.
Hi 61 reads as though you have lost "O" on spigot that pushes into side of van.
OR if Crystal type filter inlet one of the following
missing "o" on screw in filter holder or cracked.
worst outer casing fitted to van wall cracked.
Whale type Pump one or both "O"'s missing or very badly worn.
Worst outer casing cracked as above.
you should apply a smear of olive oil to "O"'s on a regular basis before pushing pump into casing this cuts down wear and makes for easier entry.
Olive oil will not affect the "O" rings as it is a natural product,
But vaseline will because it's a petroleum product, same with WD 40 or similar/copy product as WD hardens plastic and causes it to crack over a period of time.
I have two pumps 1 crystal 15 year old just converted to fit whale connection still pumping okay
No 2 whale pump 18 months old still good as new.
Just thought I would add here to avoid any confusion that the damaged rubber seal I suggested is actually the 'O' ring that naturlist123 has mentioned. It sounds the most probably cause to the problem.
Inside the pump hose connector that the connects to the van, the hose is pushed over the connector and secured by a small clip. It is quite easy for the hose to pull off the spigot and that will cause the problem you describe.
You may be able to separate the two halves of the connector to get at it and push it back on if you can't just push it on without.
