Can someone please explain exactly what this entails. Do you need any different hoses etc. We are about to book a weekend away and they only have serviced pitches so I wondered if we need anything special for these.
Thank you all as usual for your help

Serviced pitches usually mean your own water supply and waste drain. You can just use the pitch in the normal way or connect up to the water directly. This can be done through a special hose like this or a barrel adaptor- can't get link to work.
Unless you are going to use them regularly I would just do as you normally do, but once you've experienced it you may not want anything else. The bliss of not having to do the water and drains, or running out of water mid shower!!

Hello, a serviced pitch means you can connect up to a fresh watertap and your grey water can be sent directly to the drain. We used one for the fist time in November at the Old Oaks site and found it a great idea, no more lugging aquarolls or grey water tanks to and from the van. For the fresh water, we installed a ball valve in the aquaroll, this connects to a hose pipe that is then connected to the standpipe, the aquaroll connects to the van in the normal way. A ball valve from Amazon is sub £30. For the grey water, we purchased 5m of the grey corrugated waste pipe (ours is 28.5mm dia) which stretches from the van to the drain. The only issue we had was with to higher pressure on the fresh water blowing the hose fittings apart, just turn down the supplying tap and problem solved.

Fully serviced pitches mean that you do not have to go out in the rain or at night to:

a) Fill up the water barrel

b) Empty the waste water container

As said above, the danger is, having once tried them, you are hooked !!! I know we are.

Just returned off a serviced pitch, everything as above, plus we had a TV arial point, which we used as the reception was poor, just buy a long coax tv cable,(cheap as chips)also if using a direct water hose, best use one with the pressure reducer included, but if only going on that type of pitch once,do as others have said and pitch as normal.

serviced pitches are excellent. we always use them if we can.my most regularly visited site also has a soil pipe connection on each pitch, maybe this is for motor homes or the possibility to put statics on the pitches?

i have a float valve that goes in the side of the aqua roll, cost about £20 and theres no worries about damaging the caravans water system with mains pressure water if the pressure reducing regulator (of other direct coupled devices) lets by. worst can happen with the float valve is the aquaroll over flows.

it means you can use the shower in your caravan without worry about the aqua roll running out and worrying about filling the up the waste master.

all you have to do is empty the toilet cassette and fill the flush tank.

unfortunately the site i am spending my summer hols at doesn't offer a serviced pitvh.

Don't mind paying the extra for this type of pitch as when i arrive i set up and don't touch anything till i leave site.

If you are connecting a hose from tap to caravan you should use food grade hose and not just any old hose.
For waste water I have cut up a good length of hose into shorter lengths and put connectors on. Then I can use just the length I need on site. Connectors are not cheap but it's made carrying a hose more convenient. It's a good investment because a number of sites, especially CLs, allow hoses to be run into the hedge bottom. Of course, we always check before using.

Stayed on service pitch down on British riveria about 10 years back.
Pitch came with two concrete tracks for van and shale hard standing for awning,
There was a post with light on top with slide vertical covers to connect EHU and tv aerial on otherside tap for water to aqua roll then hardstanding for tow vehicle on off side of van with grassed area for sitting out.
Then in back corner surrounded by waist high picket fence a closed coupled loo without seat to empty. Van toilet soil tank in and flush.
You would be suprised the number of people who used it to relieve them selves even in broad day light not just kids and smokers you could see the glow of their fag at night as they sat and did a number 2
Judging by the length of time they sat and smoked.

lexie 71 have you checked that the filler hose going into tour caravan is stopping the float valve from closing ? We have to fiddle around with ours sometimes to prevent this problem !!

I had 4 years on a fully serviced seasonal pitch and it was brilliant. We also used a float valve in the aquaroll - so much safer and you can pick them up in screwfix for under a tenner.
