i believe that there will be gusts up to 50kph (30mph) on monday.
A) is anyone reconsidering their weekend away based on this weather?
B) anyone have any advioce on reducing the risks towing in windy conditions, is it best to avoid motorways?
C) is there a way to avoid the avonmouth viaduct?
D) i have always found towing with the full awing in in car made everything more stable, i will only be taking my porch awning this weekend. is it a crazy idea to borrow some dense materials from my work (like bags of cement)to ballast the car with to an equivalent weight of a full awning?
BTW i tow with a 4x4 that has a 87% ratio with my vans MPLM (which it is not loaded to) i have towed my new van 120 miles before and all was ok but it wasnt windy and i had 2 full awings in the car. (new awning and old awning)

your be ok with that outfit, am going north yorkshire and been in worse wind than tha.
As above big vans lorrys and coaches can give you more of a sideways blast than that wind speed.
Have a good weekend
We tend to load most stuff in van, on floor over axle. That's most stable for us, but may be different for you!
But certainly, put any heavy stuff on floor, clothes in bags on floor or laid out on seats. Never hanging!
Pretty sure winds of that speed won't be an issue - ditto others above really. If it gets a bit worrisome, reduce speed so you're happy - 50mph should be fine - and just let the rest of the world rush on past!
We're booked to travel Monday - M26, M25, M4. Definitely not cancelling - we're away in the van and not an awful lot gets in the way of that!

What if the Hokey Cokey really is what it's all about....?
We are heading West Country on Saturday which is looking pretty grim for that part of the world. Won't stop us but will be leaving early as could be long journey and a wet and windy set up is expected!
As said just slow down a bit and take it easy if things get a bit blowy especially on open motorway sections
so far on the traffic news today are 3 incidents of caravans going over and blocking motorways etc. Road users are taking to the airwaves to vent their anger:(
Glad to say I went to somerset and returned without any problems which was more than can be said for the totally trashed caravan (in a number of pieces) closing the inside lane of the M5 near Gloucester on Friday. We had a noisy and windy night last night, where electricity was lost to the area, and I was worried about returning today but my outfit was totally stable and behaved well. Felt more sure footed than my previous Bailey that was 300kg lighter (MPLM).
