Just sold my van,i bought it from a dealer in Widnes in November for £3695 through personal cicumstances i had to sell it last week, when i bought it he told me 'oh i dont have to go put looking for stock people come to me i thrive on repeat business'i will give you top price back if you ever want to sell it.
Well when i came to sell last week he told me 'its only worth 2 grand to me'but he would adverise it for £3695,what a thief, i will never buy from a dealer again.
and would never recommend him to anybody.
But that's no different to buying a brand new caravan and taking it back 6 months later and expecting to get back what you paid for it. You would probably lose about 5 grand on a new caravan but that's how dealers make their money whether it be caravans, cars, boats or anything you purchase from a dealer. If they didn't make a profit they wouldn't in business as they need to cover their wages and other overheads disregards what promises they make to a customer. They are in it to make money whoever it is.
If you had ebayed it you would have probably only got £2K & that's where dealers get their stock as well. So next time you want a £3.5K caravan buy privately off ebay for £2K.
20% of the price would have been VAT. Then overheads before making something to live on. Plus something in reserve in case of warranty claims. In line with car dealerships.
