That's because they are made from plastic and not steel. Milton can cause damage with steel components (which are located inside the hot water tank) and like previously stated, Puriclean is designed specifically for marine and leisure water equipment.
Always read the label on the product and use as directed.
I used puirclean the same way as you did yesterday. I dissolved it in a milk carton before adding to the aquaroll. I don't have a filter fitted but I don't see it being a problem, it's what it's designed for.
