Hello everyone,

We have finally taken the plunge and bought a caravan.
Due to be collected from the dealer next week.

It's an Ace Jubilee Viceroy 2007

What type of awning Ie height group etc ( not sure that's correct terminology) would we need ?

I confess I'm very confused and would truly appreciate some assistance/help

Much thanks in advance

We have just purchased our first awning and I got a guide on the internet but we also measured from the ground at the very edge of van all the way up and over and right to the floor again. (So basically measure the whole awning rail but from ground to ground). Most awning websites will give you a diagram. Then head to your nearest dealers to pick up some brochures and also helpful to give them further information like weather your touring, seasonal pitching etc as this will also depend what awning suits. Hope this helps !!!

No, all you have to measure is the drop from the awning rail to the ground say above the wheels. Some awnings are shorter than others due to the make and year of the van.

Can i get 4 kisses for this please

When you choose the make and model of awning you wish to buy, ring the dealer (or if from a shop, ask the retailer) to double check against your caravan. They'll be able to select the right one.

When we bought our awning from Teesside Caravans I knew the awning size I wanted, but the sales chap insisted on double-checking (quite rightly).

The Above thread shows measuring from ground to ground through awning rail which is very important, but you also nee d to measure from the same awning rail down to the ground through the centre of the wheel or wheels if double axial as not all vans are same height.
If you look in caravan mags or even van manual they state total height of van which includes tv aerials or Heki roof lightsETC.
If manual states height of van but does not give awning size a near enough guide is to take 10cms off van height or measure as above In this thread before you buy.
The site I am now on yearly a van owner bought new awning which was perfect for length but too tall for van, as they had opened it and tried to fit dealer would not exchange.
But he told them that it was correct awning for van and showed them height size in dealers bible.
But the idiot forgot to take off 10cms as manual did not give awning size required.
The van is now jacked up on blocks to suit awning to prevent the vertical wall of awning being tucked under as extra mud wall and make very difficult for opening and closing ZIPS and fold back entrance door,s.
