Hi has anyone got a Caravelair 516 and can you recommend it im new to caravaning and want to buy my first caravan I know they are French made are they suitable for UK too sorry if it's a silly question I've just never seen any around i drive a vauxhal vivaro 1.9 ltr minibus :)tia :)
No UK importer for these caravans so not many about. Build quality much the same as UK built caravans. Running gear & interior appliances will be common to any other make so any UK caravan workshop can service them no probs with parts available.
Door on righthand side of course but apart from that, subject to usual checks, buy with confidence. Price should be pitched lower than any well known UK built equivalent though.
Thanks Opensauce I'm totally new so really havnt a clue it's a 2011/2012 6 berth and
he's asking for £9300 how does that sound I thought it was good but havnt a clue ?
Probably realistic but see if you can screw him down from there. Point out that caravan is a grey import with no UK importers. Tell him you like the caravan but not the price. Before you buy I would get some insurance quotes. Not all insurers like grey imports.
Hi Carrieon
You may find that buying one on the continent will be a lot cheaper than in the UK.
We recently bought out Sterckeman in Germany, and saved about £3K.
For instance check this out that's a newer model than you are quoting, and at least a grand cheaper ... so you could drive out, collect and ferry home, and still save quite a bit as well as having a younger van.
I'm sure there are other offers out there ... I didn't spend much time searching.
We store ours in France and only holiday on the continent ... better weather, and saves a lot on the ferries.
Having looked at some Cavalairs in France ...they seem very nice ... our Sterckeman service agent in France sells them, and rates them ... I trust him.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
