Hi, Can anyone help.Every time we go back to our caravan. a brightstar award....we find that the fridge has seeped water since we switched it off from the last usage. Which made me think, when we defrost a fridge ..water comes out...where should it go in a caravan????!!!!
Thanks so much...guess we have been lucky with our other vans, as its never happened before. We did switch it off last night and left plastic boxes inside over night,,,,and there was no water this morning. But have left them in place for when we next go back in a week or two..Good advice thanks .
On dometic fridges that I have had there has been a drain hole at the back of the fridge. The drain hole is connected to a pipe at the back of the fridge and it drains the water into small container where it should evaporate from. The pipe can get blocked or the container behind the fridge can overflow and the water run under the fridge. If you take off the lower fridge vent you should be able to see the pipe and container.
A caravan fridge and freezer box is no different to a domestic fridge at home, when it thaws out the water has to go somewhere.
However, my wife always places and old tea towel in the bottom of the fridge then leaves the door ajar as recommended. The towel soaks up the water and slowly dries out by itself. That's on an older Electrolux model but the later model fridges may be different.
Thanks you lovely people, have just checked with my husband and he had set the fridge on the coldest temp, so that's why we haven't had the problem before. I shall take your advice and also not have it set to artic freezing point next time.!
