Can anyone here advise me on the best way to sanitise the water storage tank and lines in our caravan.

Our system uses a 5 gallon jug that sits in the front locker with a 12v submersible pump in it.

Last time we used the caravan, which was 2 years ago because all of last summer we were in Canada, we bought a new jug and replaced the pump because the old one died.

After the season, when we put the van in storage, I emptied the jug and opened the tap to let the water in the lines drain out.

However since the van has now sat for 2 years what is the best way to be sure the water system does not have any nasties in it before we take the van camping again in 2 weeks

Fill the jug with water & puriclean (mixed as instructed on thr tub) run it through the lines & leave for a few hours. Then run the tank empty & fill with clean water run the clean water through the lines & repeat this several times that should then clear any nasties.

You can use a strong solution of Milton which is made to clean baby bottles or any fluid where you are that sterilizes baby bottles..

Hi Larkspeedni, when we're sterilising our pipes etc. we find this little song helps us as we work. Sung to the tune of Frere Jacques..... you can get a group to sing it as a round. We used to in the scouts in 1960's...
