I keep my Van on seasonal pitch for the summer months and store it in a COSSA secure storage site over the winter.
I have a Alko hitch lock and wheel clamp, plus an Excalibur wheel clamp on the other wheel and Tracker fitted. I am very aware that if people want something badly enough they will take at any cost.
Each year around 1,400 caravans stolen and many are never found or seen again. They are taken from driveways, secure storage areas and seasonal pitches.
Can we do anything more to make it more difficult or impossible for them to take our pride and joy.
I don't believe you could make it impossible, the best you can do it is to make theft as difficult as possible. That is anything to slow down thieves and make them more vulnerable to being disturbed. Well that's my approach anyway, so hitchlock, wheel locks x 2, locking wheel nuts, locks to all 4 steadies, jockey wheel handle removed, alarm on.

Hi,
One of my previous m/home vans that I had bought had 4 feet initials in proper printed black letters on the roof put on by the first owner.
Now I know this wouldn't stop a theft but imagine if police helicopters were up and you had reported it stolen how easy it is to spot.
I didn't even know they were on there for about 6 months after I had it.
I don't think many thieves would check the roof.
I have often thought of doing it with my more recent vans but never found where he had obtained the letters.
Unfortunately ,as others have said if they want it they will get it.
Regards,
Greg

Nope.
always leave my motor mover engaged. i know its simple to release but as above another way to make it slower to nick.
New van as e&p system on it so another pain for those that want to steel the van ?
Security isn't about making stuff impossible to nick - burglars can be very crafty with lots of initiative.
But if your caravan is harder to nick than the one nearby, or will take 15 mins to steal not 3, or it will take a noisy angle grinder to take off security locks, thieves will look elsewhere.
