Hi guys just thought I'd come and try to get some advice,I'm off to look at a lunar clubman 530 L (2001) tomorrow, just thought I'd put the feelers out to see what advise there is over buying a 2nd hand van other than checking for damp and spongy floor? It's up for £2500 ! Does this sound about right price ? ..
All replies great fully received , thanks in advance jay
I had one years back and it was one of the best caravans I've had. Never a problem with with it, easy towing, although I had a Disco at the time. Only problem came when I part exchanged it for another caravan. The dealer agreed a price without looking at it and when I took it in, out came the damp meter and I was told that it was leaking from the offside awning rail and the price they had offered was reduced. I didn't want to dissapoint my wife who was looking forward to the new caravan and we came to an agreement. I was shafted and have since always bought second hand caravans privately. It was the last time I used West Midland Caravans, having had four caravans from them previously.Good luck with your purchase.
Thanks for the reply jjg .. Agh what a nightmare ! Hope the new caravan made up for the shafting , I'm contemplating taking a damp metre with me especially with it being 15 yrs old, 2500 isn't a great amount of cash but I'd hate to waste it on a duffer...this is a private sale so no guarantee or warranty hence the thread , so I'm looking for as many hints and tips as possible really it's a bit of a whirlwind purchase to be fair but the kids love the idea :)
