Heading down to St Ives from Derbyshire - spent night in Exeter Services - lots of caravans on way down.
It's good to see so many people out enjoying their vans - without doubt the best holidays are in caravans.

My experience is that the services at Exeter are a bit grubby and run-down. We avoid it if we can and wash thoroughly after visiting. Sorry, but ...

It cost £23 for the night and I think it was good value - obviously there are few to no facilities but the alternative is a layby somewhere the side of the road or setting up on a site for one night.

On the motorway services I leave caravan locked on to car, drop the steadies and we are ready for the night.

Up next morning and we can be away at our leisure after a quick breakfast.

Each to their own - I am merely pointing out what suits us and obviously many others.

As with most thing you make your choice and pay accordingly

Haven't stayed overnight on motorway services for many years now but used to do it regularly when heading to Cornwall and Devon. Leave home after work, drive till midnight or so then pull in to a service area till about 6am. It could be a bit of a hit or miss whether you got a decent sleep or not though. Parked up once only to have a refrigerated Lorry pull in next to me with fridge system constantly running, another time we were awakened by a really foul smell to discover a lorry carrying abattoir waste parked next to us. It was an extra early start on both those mornings. It can be quite noisy at times too, not everyone is considerate regarding noise levels.
