Bought a 1986 Swift Corniche last week as my first ever caravan and in the process of sorting it out.

Guy said it needs a new water pump as it has never worked, i plugged it in to try it and he was right it didn't work, but i then ran the pump straight off 12v and it runs fine.

Where should i check now? Anyone know where the fuses are or pressure switch etc? Any known fault causes in these vans?

Any help appreciated

Directly behind the water inlet housing should be two wires that are connected from the housing to the pressure switch. Check to see if these are connected and test accordingly as one is power from the battery and the other to activate the pump when the water pressure drops (when a tap is opened).

Do the taps click when you turn them on and off. If so they may have microswitches instead of a pressure switch to operate the pump. They are notorious for failing.
