Hello,

My husband and I are looking into buying a four-berth tourer for some adventures with our two boys. They'll probably be 4 and 1 when we hit the road (next spring). Just wondering if anyone out there has gone caravanning with toddlers and has any advice on what we should be looking for? We're thinking an end dinette which turns into bunks so we've got some space in the evening if the weather isn't great to be in the awning (we're in Scotland so that's highly likely!)

Any comments or thoughts gratefully received!

Thank you

Ask 1000 people and your likely to get 1000 different answers.

Our perfect layout was a double at each end, it hand a bunk option that we thought handy but never used.

Over the years we ended up with a side diner and rear bathroom.

You need to go and have a look and imagine spending time in the van, whether thats cooking or getting dressed in the morning. How will you prioritise your daily habits?

We have 4 grandchildren ranging from aged 2 to 13, our current van is a 6 berth double dinette. The layout works for us because the younger children can use the end of the van for eating playing and sleeping, that leaves the front free for us on an evening and to make up a double bed to sleep on. The awning provides plenty of additional space for playing if the weather is not very good.

Hello we have a 3 year old and a 6 year old. We have the layout you describe with a lounge at each end! its perfect for us. If the kids want tv on at the lounge end we can read at the other end. Bed time they share the double at the end and we haven't had to use the bunk bed but yet but it's there for future times or friends kids staying. Enjoy!

Thank you all so much for your replies. I know every family is different but it's good to hear from other parents what works for them.
