After many years of tent camping we have moved over to the touring caravans.
At beginning of the year we purchased a cheap caravan to try it out, as with the eldest lad getting to that age of I not going on holiday with mom and dad, the packing up and setting up was beginning to become a task. Well to say the least all loved it and we have just upgraded the caravan not new but we like it. The first 2 jobs were to fit a motor mover and a new alko stabiliser hitch. Now I have got a little confused with regards to nose weights. I know the car has a max nose weight 100kg and the tow ball has a max weight of 130kg and reading up the new stabiliser hitch also has a nose weight of 130kgbut on the van recommendations the nose weight is 80kg but am I right in thinking that this was due to the old type hitch lock being fitted or do I still need to get the nose weight to 80kg
If car allows up to 100kg on towbar then you are ok up to that weight. If it's a heavy caravan say 1400kg or more then up to 100kg noseweight will be desirable anyway. Load caravan sensibly & check the weight. If it's between 80-100kg then ok.
thanks Opensauce the max inc all our gear is 1430kg so I guess nearer the 100kg nose weight would be best this nose weight thing really worries me going by the tow car match my car should be all ok with more than 85% weight ratio but the nose weight is the thing that worries me
