Advice please. Recently had an Alko 3007 stabiliser hitch fitted but when you lift the small black handle to hitch up to the car it doesn' t move anything underneath to allow clearance for the towball to fit. I have made sure the handle is pulled back as far as it can go but nothing. Has anyone come across this before?

I sometimes have a problem with this as well.
So I wind the jockey wheel up to put pressure on the hitch and it drops into place.
If it's new why don't you go back to the dealer who fitted it?

Mine no longer locks in the raised position. It used to lock and when the ball pushed its way into the hitch it would spring shut to show all was well.

Now i have to raise it manually as i wind the wheel down. Then it lifts slightly and snaps shut as normal.

Thanks for the responses. I was worried about dropping it onto to the towball in case I couldn't get it off again. I will try it and if it won't fit, they will have to come out to me.

We had the same problem except that once hitched the d***** thing would not unhitch. Th only solution when pitching was to drop the jockey wheel and unbolt the towball from the car. The ball then simply dropped out of the hitch. Simply a matter then of putting the ball back on the car. Eventually changed the hitch and no more problems.
