hi is there such a thing as a lightweight fixed bed caravan,we would need the maximum weight to be 1200kg,but all the caravans are heavier than this does anyone make a van that is lightweight,we have a budget of around £7000.

You won't get a new caravan for that price but look for French built Sterckeman 390 or 420 models & the similar Caravelair 390 or 400 models. Not that many around secondhand in UK but have a google around & seach ebay. One here.

The layout you seek for a fixed bed lightweight will probably be transverse bed across the front with dinette/kitchen/toilet towards the back. Plenty of continental makes have this layout but very few UK makes. I think you might get some Bailey Orion models with rear fixed bed under your weight limit but I doubt any are old enough to be £7k yet.

An alternative if you want a UK make is a double dinette & leave one made up as a fixed bed with mattress topper.

We had a Bailey Ranger 460/4 with a fixed bed and MTPLM of 1184kg. There may be some Lunar and Sprite models with a fixed bed and similar weight.

We had a bailey discovery mercury that had fixed bed was around 1150mtplm they are around 5k

i have a sprite alpine 4 this was the lightest fixed bed I could find with the spec I wanted.

As said above ..... Bailey vans are one of the lighter on the market.
You should get a decent van for around £7000 but you need to check for damp.

As Opensauce says ... have a look at the Sterkerman range ... we bought one last year, in Germany (was a lot cheaper than getting it in the UK!) ...
Love it ... tows easily with a Passat Estate.
