TaB caravan will presumably have the standard 30m/b bulkhead regulator as fitted to all modern caravans UK or continental built. These regulators are screwed to bulkhead of gas bottle locker are suitable for both propane & butane. If you need a new one you can get them from any UK caravan shop or online supplier.
You then need a pigtail with fitting suitable for your gas bottle. Shell Gas is part of Flogas, I think. Look on Flogas website for info on fitting which will vary depending on size of bottle.
Most Flogas bottles use clip fittings. Look on Flogas website for stockist local to you who can advise on correct fitting for your bottle.
You might find a suitable pigtail fitting is not available for your bottle size. It might be better to change to 6kg Calor propane either standard or Lite bottle which uses Pol fitting & these pigtails are available from any caravan shop. If gas bottle locker is too small for 6kg Calor bottle it should fit a 3.9kg Calor propane bottle with same fitting.
If your caravan has no bulkhead regulator then there should be a nipple on end of copper gas pipe going into gas locker to fit gas hose secured by jubilee clip. If there is no nipple fitting then you can get one from a caravan shop.
I would dump your Shell bottle for suitable sized Calor bottle. That way it is easy to get the correct regulator. 37m/b for propane. 28m/b for butane from any caravan shop. it is also easier to get bottle exchange if you need one when caravanning as well.
The set up you should have as you describe. From copper gas inlet pipe in locker. Nipple on end of pipe then rubber gas hose secured with jubilee clip runs to gas bottle top regulator & secured with jubilee clip. Dip ends of hose in boiling water to soften for ease of fit.
If you want to use your Shell bottle then same setup but contact Flogas supplier who will advise you on suitable regulator for Shell bottle but set up is still as I have described.
Also worth pointing out that your Shell bottle might be from a non UK supplier as Shell brand gas bottles are available abroad but are not exchangeable in UK & may have different regulator sizes so in that case you will have to change to a UK bottle anyway.
The reason I am trying to do this, big fat label in the locker saying 30mbar.
But I have just check the van (which I should have done from the beginning), and I in thinking the truma s2200p and the dometic r4180m, both can run on 37mbar from the label?
If you are using a bottle top regulator & gas hose connected directly to gas inlet pipe as described in earlier post then your appliances will work ok whatever gas bottle you use with the correct bottle top regulator.
If you intend to use caravan year round then it's best to use propane gas. You can use Calor 6kg but if that is too large for locker then use 3.9kg bottle. both these bottles fit their specific pol fitting 37m/b regulator & will work all caravan appliances no problem.
If you are going abroad in summer then you can use a Campingaz 907 bottle with it's specific 28m/b regulator connected as described. Campingaz refills are expensive but refills are available in other European countries Calor is UK only. If you are only going abroad for a couple of weeks then 6kg Calor bottle should last the trip though.
Yes. Any modern caravan gas appliances will work from butane bottle with 28m/b regulator or propane bottle with 37m/b regulator.
You could upgrade to 30m/b bulkhead fitted regulator as fitted to newer caravans & that will work with both butane or propane connected with specific pigtail but theres no real point. Bottle top regulator will work ok.
