Hi. I've recently purchased one of the above vans to do up and have a question for someone who knows these vans or electrics.
The van is supplied with mains connection which also powers the 12v system directly. There is a fall over to the battery should the power fail. All fine except there is no battery charger.
Questiion is if I connect a decently ctek battery charger to the mains circuit and battery to charge it can it be left connected whilst we use the van?
Currently we charge in between trips but not ideal.
You would be better off doing the job properly & installing a transformer/charger in place of existing transformer not designed for battery charging.
If you are going to use a separate charger then just charge battery as required.
It's usual for continental 'vans to have transformer & no battery as standard. Optional extra would be battery & transformer/charger. Adding a battery without upgrading to transformer/charger is half a job.

Thanks for your info. The battery and box are already in the van so maybe added by previous owner.
What sort of unit do I need to replace the current transformer ?
