Here i am all set up at Home farm, no hot water! Bought the van last year 2006 Lunar Lexon EB and never used the heating or water boiler, now i forgot what i was told lol. I have put the dial by the front door to gas and 50 left for half hour but nothing happening. Is there a start up button somewhere? Should i be hooked up to electric ? Manual left in house! Would be grateful for any advice
Thanks
Two very basic questions, I appologise if these are too basic. Does cold water come out of the hot tap? If not you need to make sure the heater is filled up with water.
Is there a tap on the gas supply to the water heater? (I have a swift and there are several gas taps under the sink)
Do you know the make of the water heater? That might make it easier to help you.
------------- We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.
Hi John basic is good, its a Truma there are 2 gas valves next to it, both open, pump indicator light comes on when tap turned on. Cold water coming out. Could it be that it is not intant and needs more than 30 minutes to heat up? Got a T5 camper but new to caravans, bet you cant tell lol
If you are running the boiler on gas, then you may need to remove the cover on the outside of the van - not a very technical explanation - but on the outside of the van near to your boiler there is an outlet that may have a plastic cover on it - the boiler won't function on gas unless the cover is removed.
It could be that you have an air lock in the gas system somewhere. I have the Whale water heater and its a nightmare to get to work on gas (electric works a treat) eventually after six months of trying on and off (we prefer to go on serviced pitches with electric hook up) we took it back to the dealer and they said it was a bad air lock.
I tried to clear it myself a few times following the manual, but didn't work.
Well it works fine on electric hook up. Shame wanted to use it on gss because we have a dolar panel. Shame to hook up just for hot water, never mind. Thanks for your help guys
We always use electric to heat the water. You might as well use electric if you are paying for it with the price of the pitch. We try to use as little gas a possible as it's costing us twice, once for gas, once for electric.
Glad you have got it working.
