I suspect this has been covered somewhere before, but when part exchanging a caravan at a dealer and they ask model, do you quote the model year of that van, or the build year?
Just asking as we are trading in our Coachman and its date of registration on the Cris form is Nov 2003, but it is the 2004 model...
I know caravan manufactures work on Sept-August years, but will dealers try and give less for November registered models, stating it's a 2003 and not a 2004 model??
Hope this makes sense...
The dealer will not quote you a firm price until he sees the caravan & when he does he will know exactly when the caravan was built & base his price on that. If you want a reasonable estimate over the phone then give dealer all the info you have posted on here.
i guess it depends on how they use their price guide. when we traded ours in at the end of last year it was a 2012 model, built in 2011, but we bought it in 2012.
the dealer used his 'glases' guide or whatever the equivalent is for caravans and used the 2012 line from this.
we did quite well really as we had bought it at a heavily discounted price mid season, so when we traded it in we got a premium for it.
i guess we may have the same predicament if/when we trade next time as we now have a 2017 model, built in Nov 2016 and bought in 2016.
