Are you sure your Amara is a 1999 model?
I didn't think that Coachman installed an external bbq point until 2000 although they visually look identical in green apart from the external bbq point.
I say this because I traded a 1999 model in last year for a later model Amara.
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
The gas outlet looks like a factory fitted unit, the sliding cover is the same colour as all the other covers on the van. I think I need to contact someone who can take a look at the van.

The same LPG pipes are used on all caravans so it's nothing to do with Coachman in general. The more likely reason why a gas pipe should split is when it's out of date which they age harden over time especiaaly through hard winters. There will be a manufacturing date on the rubber pipe very much the same as rubber tyres merely because they deteriorate over a specific time and need to be replaced for safety reasons. That's why it is advisable to have a service done annually as they pressure test the gas system and replace the pipes where necessary.
