I have a swift conquerer 570. Just been away for weekend all driving lights on caravan were working fine on way there. As we were leaving site top rear marker light clipped a tree and cover became detached, when I got home established bulb holder had been bent out of shape, I straightened it up and all wires appeared to be as they should, but now none of the lights (side lights / running lights) are working although brake lights and indicators are fine...can anyone advise how to rectify, I have checked all fuses on the caravan and all intact.

Have another look at the bulb holder and and pay attention to the contacts as they probably have a loose wire that's short circuiting the light which is affecting the other lights in circuit. Plus have a look to make sure the earth connection han't broken away as well.
I did exactly the same a few years ago and clipping the same marker light too on leaving a campsite with a tight entrance but it blew the fuse on mine to which I had to call out the AA. The patrol man taped some insulation tape around the offending wire just to get me back home as a temporary measure but I had to replace the complete marker light which wasn't a very difficult job but it all worked okay afterwards.

Are the car side/rear lights working? there are normally no fuses in the 'van for the running lights they use the supply for the car lights and are fused in the car.

Ah! now that's a good point because the car I had at that time (reference to my first post) didn't have daytime running lights.

Is there a separate fuse in the van for the normal lights (the brake lights work but the normal nighttime lights don't)

The fuse that blew when we broke down was in the vehicle's boot compartment (estate) which had the twin electrics and installed at the same time as the towbar was fitted. The AA patrol man was stumped trying to find a fuse as it wasn't the caravan or the car so he had to look online for the phone number of the company who installed the towbar to find out where the hidden fuse was. Apparently, the wires were connected to the rear light cluster and the fuse was located under a removable panel where the estate tailgate closed down. Just thought it was worth mentioning as it may just be worth a look to see if there is a hidden fuse there somewhere.

Can you check the appropriate pins on the car socket to see if voltage is present.

Is it a 7 pin 12n socket or a 13 pin?

Hi it's 7 pin.......I've tried using a different cable from car to caravan and "more lights appear to be working" though still not near side Lear light or upper offending light

It's a case of checking where you have voltage until you find somewhere where you stop having it.

The power for the lights starts at the car battery and flows through fuses and switches then car wiring to the 7 pin socket on the car.

Then it goes into the 7 pin plug on the caravan then through a 7 core cable etc eventually ending up at the lights.

After going through the lamp it flows via cable back to the other terminal on the battery completing the circuit.

Somewhere along that route the will be a fuse or switch faulty, or cable joint/terminal broken. Only by checking where you have voltage and don't will you discover where the problem is.

Start at the car socket and plug. If power is in the socket then the problem is in the caravan. If no power at the socket, the problem is in the car.

Hi I have the same problem, although mine was water related, had corroded all wires and fittings, so brought a new lamp unit, and redone wires, now with the help of a diagram reconnected wires, left hand unit working as it should, right hand unit nothing. Any help
