So, we bought a used caravan and we are totally new to caravans, previously we just took our trusty tent everywhere but with 2 kids now we decided to get a 2nd hand (old!) caravan.
We have an aqua roll and I think it's meant to connect to this? But what bits and pieces do I need to buy to make the magic happen?
Your photo looks like a waste outlet. Do you have an onboard pump? You probably need a submersible pump that drops in to the Aquaroll, have a look at a retailer eg Towsure to see what the different types look like and which type of connection you may need to fit the inlet on the caravan.
I've just looked at the photo again and noticed the chassis rails, is this an early 1980's caravan? If it is it may have a foot pump by the kitchen sink and you only need a hose that goes on the fitting in the picture and goes straight in to the Aquaroll.
Thanks for making the picture work! I thought it was a waste pipe too but my husband is convinced it's the way water gets into the caravan.
It is a 1978 caravan and you're right there is a foot pump in the kitchen.
A piece of plastic pipe with a black bung (?) came with the aqua roll, I thought this was filling up on site. I tried to connect it to the inlet but thought it must be wrong. But it sounds like that is how it connects? Does that sound right Rob?
The easiest way to see if it is a waste pipe is to pour some water down the sink and see where it comes out.
It sounds like the pipe fits in that socket and then fits in the Aquaroll (with the bung removed). Perhaps the bung is to put in the end of the pipe when refilling the Aquaroll so that the pipe doesn't get covered in mud.
Ps got the foot pump working and got water coming out of the aqua roll I the kitchen! Yay!!! Now..... the bathroom!?! 🙈 Also can't get the electric pump working yet, fingers crossed!
The taps have a micro switch. But the electric pump doesn't seem to work. My husband thinks the electric pump runs the water to the the bathroom taps as there seems to be an electric switch in the bathroom, looks like a little pedal?
On our old caravan the foot pump was the electric one as well. You pump to get the water system primed and then just held the floor switch down when water was needed.
------------- were caravaning but now tenting and now back to a caravan
So the electric pump does work (we connected it to our car battery!) so it's either the switch, the wiring or the leisure battery making it not work in the bathroom. Nothing ever simple is it?
My old 70's Sprite Musketeer had that style of connector. It had already been wired for an electric pump and had a toggle switch above the sink area to activate the pump.
