My A6 Avant 2.0TDI can only pull 1600kg According to toing info site

We have two young boys, like the idea of bunks and a place to eat round a table, any advice on good quality light vans with bunks?. not much scope to change my car for two years. Going to Birmingham show to see whats there but thought it would be good asking the forum for tips.
Thanks
George

I'm not sure your information is correct. Most current model A6 Avant 2.0 TDIs have a towing limit of 2000kg. However if you apply the 85% recommendation for towing a caravan, this would limit you to around 1500kg, depending on the model.

You will still have plenty of choice of vans with bunks which your car will be able to tow easily.

Yes Humberwolf, its the 85% rule that states 1600kg for my car, lots of the vans i look at and like online, the towing info site, says- bad match
Im just looking into my first buy, unsure of the rules

Most A6 Avant 2.0 TDi models weigh between 1640kg and 1725kg. If you stick with the 85% recommendation this only gives you vans with a MTPLM (maximum weight) of 1400-1470kg (approx). Any vans over this weight will probably come up as a bad match.

85% is not a rule, but is a recommendation, particularly for those who have not towed before.

Thanks for the clarification. I read it wrong, 1600 is the max, not the guidance,

If you go http://caravanfinder.co.uk It showcases new and used vcaravans from across the country,
you can select vans by layout and most of the adverts give the MTPLM of the van. We saw a Bailey Ranger last year when we were changing ours. It was lightweight. Had bunkbeds across the back, a table for 2 along the side and the traditional 2 benches that convert to a double bed at the front. This sounds like the layout you are looking for

Thanks for the link and info. We like the Bailey Pursuit 560-5. It comes up as a match with the car. If there is similar others like that would be good to have some votes for others.

George
