Now with me doing 4 on 4 off day shifts, we're able to go away A LOT more often...

But how far should we travel?

Sounds daft, but we would love to now get away as much as possible, but not waste two of the days off doing the 'travelling'...

Away is away in my opinion. Whether your 1 mile or a 100 miles away, your not at home and in the van you could be anywhere.

I work shifts and we go away a lot.
We reckon about 2 hours or 100 miles.
From Northumberland you have got Scotland borders and the whole of north Yorkshire. Dales and moors. Plenty of scope there.

We never got much time to use our van, now we work it in with our business, and stay on a site near our work for a couple of weeks.

We call it a working holiday, it also saves us a 36 mile round trip every work day.

I do like to travel to the coast which from here is a good 3 hours+.

But some of my best and most relaxing breaks have been less than an hour away.

What are your hobbies? Anything you can incorporate?

Silverstone was great when you could avoid the busy periods and pop over the road to our caravan, small secluded site near a golf course. That was really relaxing.

A bit boring for a week or so but ideal for a long weekend.
