Hi Greg

Thanks for your good wishes - I have a good feeling about the Coachman now that we are all but there regarding being satisfied with it.

Weather in St Ives is cool and cloudy today but we are relaxing and enjoying doing nothing

Tony

Hi Mick S

I am one of the people who do want all the home comforts and am happy to pay for them - my argument is that the manufacturers know how to charge a premium price for all of this but end up supplying a mediocre product.

The manufacturers seem incapable of offering real value for money - wether it's for those who want the basics - better spec vans - or high end vans.

Whilst I do my fair share of moaning - I really enjoy having a caravan but would just like better value for money.

I know there are many more who will feel like me - but enough people don't speak up and complain.

Suppliers who give me good service and value for money get my business and I continue to use them.

Hi Compessorman,
Totally agree with you, 25k is a lot of money to anyone.
You should expect 25k's worth of goods.
It is unbelievable these companies can still get away with some of the crap they churn out.
You should not have to go through a 2 year period of getting things sorted, that is what quality control is meant to eradicate.
We British are too easy going .
Enjoy your time in Cornwall and hopefully trouble free caravanning in the future.
Regards,
Greg

Hi Compressorman. I fully agree a buyer should be entitled to expect a bit of quality for what they are often paying. My point is; there is a finite weight most vans can be, irrespective of whats fitted within. Therefore, if we insist on weighty 'comforts' (that were not found 20 years ago), to keep the weights within reason, the fabric of the van itself has to take the strain. (ironic, i know, as often they do not!)

So they are made thinner/lighter. Which has them flexing more on the roads, which opens up seams, causing damp/doors sticking/hatches leaking.

The only way to shoehorn 21st C. 'requirements' in, is to have sturdier builds, leading to heavier units.

Which would see a lot of todays caravanners with either the licence and/or their cars, not up to the job
