Hi,

We have just bought our very first caravan, an Avondale dart 556/6. We've camped for a while, tents then a folding camper but now have 3 kids (2 toddler twins) so have taken the plunge.

Our caravan came with an awning, but we also have an inflatable porch awning (Vango rapide 250), can someone tell me what numbers I need to be looking at to find out if it will fit our van? Really hoping it does, as putting the awning up in the rain with kids squished inside was the nail on the coffin for the folding camper!

Thanks

You need to check the awning rail height on the caravan. Most modern awnings fit rail heights from 235 to 250 cm, Avondale are often lower than this.

Thanks Rob, that's really helpful 😀 it's in storage until we go away in 2 weeks so I will remember to take a tape measure! Tried looking on the internet to see if the rail height was listed anywhere but couldn't find it.

The best thing you can do is take it with you and try it on the van, the numbers you are asking about are only critical for a full awning, most porch awnings will fit almost any van, the 250 number will be the width in cm's
